Not actually waterproof, ‘resistant’ maybe… to a point. I’m give the blanket 3 stars because even though it’s a really nice blanket and the fleece on the one side is really nice and comfortable- it is definitely not waterproof.I purchased this blanket on the sole purpose of it being waterproof. My dog was diagnosed with TCC (transitional cell carcinoma) which is a form of terminal cancer in her bladder and urethra. Comfortable, good-sized blanket disappointing because mine wasn’t waterproof. The plush side is very comfortable, unlike most waterproof blankets/fleeces/etc. However, the main reason for buying this was to use as a picnic blanket. The first time I used this on mostly-dry grass, and it worked fine. The dampness was contained to the blue “waterproof” side. I then washed it on gentle cycle and put it in the dryer with the air-only setting. The blanket was still soft and everything looked intact.
